Whitecaps show how strong their hockey program is: All top tier teams will play for gold

Local female hockey teams had a strong weekend.
Four groups from the Quad Counties advanced to their provincial championships after winning their semi-finals this past weekend.
In Port Hood at the Al MacInnis Sports Centre it was a nail biter for the U18 AA Whitecaps.
No goals after the 1st.
No goals after the 2nd.
No goals after the 3rd but just a few minutes into the first overtime period, Brooke MacLellan was able to bury one on the powerplay and send her team to the championship next week.

Over in Antigonish Co. Kendall Doiron was able to get one past the goalie just 32 seconds into the game for the U15 AAA Whitecaps and that goal would stand as the game winner.
Skylar MacLean and Hali-Rose MacLean also scored while Elsa Cameron was in net for the shutout in the league semi-final.
Sunday was also a good day for another MacLean.
In U13 AAA action, Summer MacLean buried one in the 1st against Metro to tie things up.
The Warriors scored twice in the 2nd to take the lead but the Whitecaps did not give up.
The Quad Counties had a powerful final 15 minutes.
MacLean was able to score two and complete the hat-trick.
Her teammate Sidnee Wood scored three in the final 15 minutes and they ended up with a 6-3 win in the semi-final.
In Port Hood, Carly Landry didn't let anything past her as the U11 AA Whitecaps won on home ice.
Harmony Fortune(2), Payton MacLean, Julia MacLellan and Gracie Kenny all scored as the Quad Counties skated to a 5-0 victory over the Metro West Lightning.
Not a bad weekend for the Whitecaps!
All provincial title games will be played next weekend.
