Two youth arrested after school bus fire

RCMP arrested two youth in an arson investigation after a school bus fire in Baddeck.

On August 12th, at approximately 12:45 p.m., Victoria County District RCMP, the Baddeck Volunteer Fire Department and EHS, responded to a report of a vehicle fire at a school bus garage on Shore Rd. in Baddeck.

Officers had already attended the property earlier that morning investigating break-ins and damage to multiple school buses.

Upon arrival at the school bus garage, RCMP observed that one of the school buses was fully engulfed in flames and that firefighters were working on extinguishing the fire.

Once the fire was extinguished, police determined that the fire was the result of arson.

On August 13th, RCMP arrested a youth in relation to the investigation and, on August 14th, a second youth was arrested.

Both have since been released on conditions and will appear in court at a later date.

The two will be facing a charge of arson.
