Two Eskasoni men dead in Hwy. 4 crash

RCMP say two men are dead after a crash on January 20th.

Police say Friday at 4:19 p.m., North East Traffic Services, along with fire and EHS responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision on Hwy. 4 in East Bay.

Officers say they learned that a transport truck, travelling east-bound, collided with a Chevrolet Traverse travelling west-bound.

RCMP say an 80-year-old man and a 38-year-old man were transported to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital by EHS with life-threatening injuries.

Both men from Eskasoni later died in hospital.

The transport truck driver, a 46-year-old man from Sydney, was not hurt in the crash.

Hwy. 4 was closed for several hours while a collision analyst attended the scene.

The highway reopened at 12:20 a.m. Saturday.

Weather conditions were bad at the time of the collision.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
