Man charged after Sydney stabbing

A 33-year-old man faces charges after an altercation on Townsend Street in Sydney early Monday morning.
Cape Breton Regional Police responded to a call from the area just after 2:00 a.m.
On arrival, officers located a group of people, including a man injured on the ground.
The victim and witnesses indicated he had been stabbed by another man, who they knew and were able to describe and identify for police.
Within minutes, officers located a man on the Esplanade matching the suspect’s description, positively identified him and placed him under arrest.
Police say the victim was transported by EHS to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
After further work by Major Crime and Forensic Identification officers, Randy Travis Alex was remanded to the Cape Breton Correctional Centre and charged with aggravated assault and a breach of probation.
