Male and female from Richmond Co. charged with sexual offences

RCMP charged two people with sexual offences in Barra Head.

On May 26th, Richmond Co. District RCMP received a report of possible sexual exploitation involving a 53-year-old man and a 48-year-old woman.

RCMP officers began investigating and determined that in 2020, a young person was sexually assaulted by the man and woman.

On May 29th, police arrested 53-year-old Daryl Lawrence Digout and 48-year-old Shelley Dawn Diane Digout at a home in Barra Head.

The Digout’s have been jointly charged with sexual assault, sexual interference and sexual exploitation.

Both have been released on conditions and will appear in Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court on August 28th.

RCMP believe that there may be additional victims and is reaching out to offer support and encourage anyone who may have been a victim to come forward by contacting your local police or RCMP Detachment.

Police want victims to know that they can contact them and discuss an incident before making a decision to further participate in the investigation and court process.
