Impaired driving and theft charges after vehicle hits building in Sydney


Cape Breton Regional Police were called to Hugh Street in Sydney after receiving reports that a vehicle struck a building.


Officers located a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado with extensive damage.



Police say there were no occupants in the vehicle.


The building at 4 Hugh Street received damage but there were no injuries.


The truck owner attended the scene and reported that the vehicle was taken without permission.


With the assistance of the public providing descriptions of the two occupants, police located the female operator of the vehicle and the male passenger in two separate sections of George Street.


Both appeared in Sydney Provincial Court and have been remanded until June 30th.


Bonnie Jean Hines is charged with impaired operation of a conveyance, refusal, taking a motor vehicle without consent, mischief, and failing to stop at the scene of an accident.


Andrew Scott Hennick is charged with taking a motor vehicle without consent, mischief and failing to stop at the scene of an accident, as well as seven breaches of previous release conditions.
